That said, I'm kind of pissed this section just came out of nowhere and that discussions weren't allowed in the topic that was used as a poll. It would have been good, in my opinion, to have discussed the aim of such a section BEFORE opening it...

Because talking english with fellow french people seems a little weird to me.

Also, remember that being good at written english doesn't help speak it well !
I write in english every day, but I've lost a lot of oral fluency due to lack of speaking the language... Being good at writing english also doesn't help understanding native british or american speakers as they speak. An alternative suggestion for training at understanding would be watching movies or soaps with subtitles, of course.

But being good at writing english is a first step, of course !!

Good luck to everybody, and can someone make suggestions of discussions that could take place in this section and not in one of the other NUMEROUS sections of the forum ?

Of course you can !

The advantage of this forum is the possibility of opening many varieties of topics... the only rule being to write only in English!

It's done ! I want to learn English and a forum French/English seems perfect to that. Thanks !
